Call for Papers
Constantly diversifying approaches and materials in English teaching necessitate a
deeper
and more thorough probe into the various contexts in which English learning
and teaching take place. Numerous perspectives and issues embedded in the course
content of
language, literature, and culture not only provide rich contexts for language
learning but also make excellent subjects for research, the results of which are bound to
provide a
more fertile ground for English learning.
Topics for the Conference
1. Theories and practices of English learning and teaching
2 .English and American literature and culture studies
3. Linguistics and applied linguistics
4. Corpus studies and discourse analysis
5. Bilingual education and multiculturalism
6. Language development and second language acquisition
7. Teaching materials and methods
8. Curriculum planning and design
9. English for specific purposes
10.
Multi-media in the language classroom, including e-learning and development
of computer-assisted teaching materials
11. Learning strategies and communication strategies
12. Language assessment and evaluation
13. Language education policies, including placement tests and exit scores for
graduating students
14. Other related topics and issues
Presentations at the conference can include papers, panel discussions, and workshops.

Important Deadlines
Conference Date: May 2, 2009
Submission of abstracts: October 20, 2008
Notification of acceptance of abstracts: November 30, 2008
Submission of full papers: February 23, 2009
Notification of acceptance of full papers: March 23, 2009
Paper Submission
1. Each submission should include the following information and items:
(a) Name of the contributor in both Chinese and English, professional affiliation,
current position, mailing address, office and home phone numbers, and
email address. The above items should be listed on a separate page.
(b) An abstract of about 300 words in English, along with a list of keywords
(no more than six) for papers in English. An additional English abstract
with English keywords for papers written in Chinese.
2. Manuscripts with topics related to literature must be prepared according to the
format specified in the recent edition of MLA Handbook for Writers of Research
Papers; manuscripts with topics concerning linguistics and English teaching
must be prepared in accordance with the format specified in the recent edition
of APA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. Manuscripts must be
double-spaced and typeset in 12-point Times New Roman. Papers in Chinese
should follow the APA Style for papers in education (ED Style).

Manuscripts are accepted for review on the condition that the same work has not
been published and is not presently submitted for publication elsewhere.
4. Submissions should be made electronically in MS Office 2003 as e-mail
attachment to the following email address: eng_conf@pccu.edu.tw

The receipt of the submission will be notified promptly; however, the papers will
not be returned after the review.
5. Submitted papers will be subject to a blind review process by two
authoritative reviewers.
6. The presenter will receive one copy of the monograph of the conference after
the conference.
